The Requirements Engineering Process: Panel Discussion of Critical Issues in Requirements Management_SUM
1/14/2010
At PLM Road Map™ 2009, our panel discussion on requirements management included individuals from leading software suppliers, and a top end user. John Carrillo of IBM consistently emphasized a broader perspective of "how we get better," that focuses on the full requirements engineering process rather than just on requirements management. Mike Cronin, Chairman and CEO of Cognition, positioned requirements management as "a portal into the entire system model." Lee Garf of PTC directly addressed the Voice of the Customer. Mark Sampson of Siemens PLM Software proposed that requirements from systems engineering must be fully integrated into the development process, rather than managed in separate tools. Ed Griffor of Chrysler Group LLC reported on major progress with CMMI (capability maturity model integration) that helped his engineers gain better insight into the relationships of who owns what data. Suddenly that CMMI environment became real with a major payoff.
