Federating ECAD and MCAD: Defining Requirements for Mechatronic Design (EX)
8/28/2000
The growing complexity of electromechanical systems containing mechanical and optical components, printed circuit boards, microchips, communication busses, and wire and optical fiber interconnections demands accurate and timely coordination of mechanical and electrical design efforts. This also requires a supportive design software infrastructure. In essence, this growing complexity introduces product definition requirements -- interface management, systems integration, and change control -- into the daily work of both mechanical and electrical designers.
